About the label:
Radley was a British clothing manufacturer owned by Alfred Radley, operating from the 1960s through the 1980s. It is best known for its association with Quorum Boutique, in which it acquired a controlling interest in 1969.
Quorum designers Ossie Clark and Alice Pollock also created garments for the Radley label, incorporating many of their signature design elements. Clark would sketch the original concept, which Radley’s in-house designer then developed into a range of designs.
In the late 1960s, Radley employed Rose Bradford to adapt Clark’s original designs into affordable licensed pieces, following the company’s financial rescue of Quorum. An accomplished designer in her own right, Bradford designed under her own name for both Radley and Quorum during the 1970s, though she was often overshadowed by Radley’s other designers. She is also rumoured to have designed some garments sold under Ossie Clark’s name without his involvement, as an experiment.
